Supports eviCore’s client contracting and management functions: researching and writing memoranda, drafting commercial contracts, and advising on RFP responses.

Uses technical knowledge to respond to client issues, giving legal advice consistent with the law.

Continually expands knowledge of business and regulatory environment and counselling skills.

Aware of legal risks associated with an issue.

Keeps legal colleagues aware of issues that arise in assigned business area.

Interacts with business stakeholders on assigned issues.

Also serves in support capacity to more senior attorneys and assists with special projects.

This role requires judgment, contracting experience, the ability to negotiate directly with external clients (with appropriate supervision), the ability to work independently, and strong attention to detail.

To be successful, this individual must gain an understanding of eviCore’s pricing models and develop the ability to draft language to support novel and complex contract arrangements.

Successful candidates will serve as a thought partner for the business, combining strong analytical skills with an ability to translate technical analysis into actionable advice for various stakeholders, including: Sales and Product; Pricing; Operations; and Compliance.

This position requires a customer-focused mind-set and a keen understanding of the perspectives of key internal and external stakeholders, including business leaders, customers and clients, and regulators and enforcement agencies.

The Attorney must gain an understanding of applicable state and federal laws and regulations, including: laws pertaining to utilization management, third party administrators, risk-bearing or capitated arrangements, and federal and state privacy laws and regulations (including the HIPAA Privacy Rule).

Key Responsibilities :

  • Through the provision of innovative and risk-based legal advice, support the product and business teams by ensuring compliant administration and contracting of the eviCore product suite;
  • Negotiating, drafting, and approving the legal terms of eviCore’s client contracts, Business Associate agreements, and non-disclosure agreements for all solutions and compensation models, including arrangements for the provision of eviCore solutions to Commercial, Medicare Advantage, and Medicaid (fee-for-service and managed Medicaid) populations enrolled in plans throughout the United States, with related legal and regulatory considerations;
  • Interpret client contract language as needed;
  • Coordinate with Legal colleagues to ensure business stakeholders are receiving consistent legal support and are apprised of key risks and issues in a timely manner;
  • Promote a culture of compliance, accountability, transparency, and ethical decision-making.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor required.
  • 3+ years of contracting experience.

  • Strong analytical and contract-writing skills; strong negotiating skills; and the ability to work with a high degree of independence.
  • Understanding the importance of supporting business leaders to enable sustainable growth.
  • Ability to understand complex operations, technological, and financial issues related to eviCore’s products.
  • Able to render actionable legal advice within a matrixed business setting, balancing the need to avoid unnecessary or inappropriate risk with the need to achieve business goals.
  • Personable, highly collaborative individual with the ability to influence others and build strong professional relationships both with internal stakeholders and eviCore clients.
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
  • Track record of project and process management.
  • Demonstrated good judgment and willingness to take on difficult projects.
  • Strong, independent decision-making ability.
  • Intellectual flexibility; adept at reassessing priorities to ensure that internal and external expectations are fulfilled.
  • Strong time-management skills with ability to multi-task and appropriately prioritize and manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
  • Familiarity with healthcare industry a plus.
  • Knowledge of Evernorth, eviCore, and Cigna products and solutions a plus.

This role is WFH which allows most work to be performed at home or on occasion at a Cigna office location.

Employees must be fully vaccinated if they choose to come onsite

This position is not eligible to be performed in Colorado.
