Kanawha City Veterinary Hospital
We are seeking a full-time or part-time associate veterinarian. New graduates are welcome to apply! We have 2 clinics, one located in Charleston, WV and one located in Barboursville, WV. The successful candidate will split time between the two clinics. This is an excellent oppportunity for mentoring with 2 veterinarians with over 20 years experience each. By far and away, our most valuable resource is our staff. We have excellent teams at both clinics including multiple RVT’s. We also have the privilege of having the first in the state (and now one of only 2) Veterinary Technician Specialists in Dentistry.
Wild, Wonderful West Virginia is an amazing place to live. The state is beautiful, with multiple opportunities for outdoor adventure. We have bike trails, hiking trails, white water rafting, rock climbing, zip lining and so many other activities available within a short drive. The cost of living is also extremely low–West Virginia is ranked as the 8th lowest state for cost of living in the US according to the US News. Our clients are wonderful. We are truly blessed, and we would love to share our blessings and the wonder of our state with a new veterinarian.
The schedule is flexible and negotiable. Saturday morning office hours are required 2 to 3 weekends per month. We have 2 overnight emergency clinics within an hour’s drive, so no after-hours emergency work is required (although it is certainly an option to pick up shifts at the emergency clinic to make extra money if desired).
Benefits offered include 401K with a 4% match after 1 year employment, liability insurance, license fees and membership dues, as well as paid CE. Bonus payments to help offset the cost of personal health insurance is also offered. Payroll withholding for AVMA dental and vision insurance as well as Colonial supplemental health insurance is available.
Salary is negotiable. Options would be a straight salary position, which would likely be a benefit for a new graduate who may not be able to generate as much revenue as an experienced veterinarian. For a veterinarian with more experience, a production-based income package may be a better option. All of this is negotiable for the right candidate. If you have particular skills or interests, such as surgery (soft tissue and orthopedic), ultrasound, dentistry, etc., we would love to support you in developing and improving those skills. There could also be an opportunity to do some ambulatory large animal work. We do not currently offer large animal services, but if we had a veterinarian who would like to explore that option, we would be happy to provide equipment and staffing to support it.
In conclusion, if you are looking for a flexible, fun, supportive work environment, this is the job for you. Veterinary medicine can be a challenging career. Finding the right job can make all the difference. Please contact us if you are interested in taking the first step toward a more fulfilling career.
