Job Title: Associate MachinistDepartment: ManufacturingReports To: Manufacturing Group Team LeadFLSA Status: Non-ExemptPRIMARY FUNCTIONSThe primary functions include operating multi-axes computer numerical control (CNC) milling machine or lathe to machine surfaces of metallic and nonmetallic work pieces.QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the Major Responsibilities, including the following: Loads material in machine.
Starts machine and observes cutting operation.
Compares numerical data display with specifications on operations sheet and under supervision of Machinist I or up.
With the proper level of supervision, adjusts tool lengths and fixture offsets if required.
Responsible for the accuracy and quality of the part.
Authorized to stop processes to ensure quality.Responsible for machine turnovers to adjacent shift operators.Works overtime as requiredOther duties as assigned.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three months to six months related experience and/or training.LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, routers and inspections proceduresAbility to read and interpret blueprintsAbility to understand general G-code programming is preferredMATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry or ability to use a trig book.Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations preferred.REASONING ABILITY:Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
