Job status
– Exempt.
Reports to the Dean of College of Education and Behavioral Sciences.
Job Responsibilities.
Teaching graduate courses in the field of special education and student assessment.
Other responsibilities include teaching courses as appropriate at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
Other duties may include the supervision of student interns, clinical teachers, off-campus and teaching online.
Faculty members also have professional responsibilities which may include advising students, orientation and registration of students, participation in University committees, keeping regular posted office hours (which are scheduled at times convenient for students), and participation in traditional functions which have academic significance..
Qualifications.
Ph.D./Ed.D in Special Education with a specialty in Assessment or closely related field.
Must have academic preparation, at least 18 credit hours, in Special Education and Student Assessment at the master’s level or higher.
Minimum 5 years of public or private school teaching experience in the U.S.
Texas certification or an equivalent certification as a Diagnostician or other content areas is preferred..
The successful candidate will also be able to articulate a vision for the role of his or her discipline at HBU that is supportive of the Ten Pillars Vision statement; the Ten Pillars vision statement may be found at hbu.edu/tenpillars.
