Assembly Engineer (Temporary 3-6 Months)

PURPOSE: n n Under general supervision, this position maintains, improves, and optimizes the assembly process in manufacturing environments.

Develops innovative solutions and new approaches to engineering problems.n n RESPONSIBILITIES:n n Determine the sequence of steps or processes required to fabricate and assemble products that meet organizations standards of quality and cost.

Develop recommendations for changes to working methods or operation sequences that will minimize risks, costs, and wastage.

Identify opportunities to increase yields and productivity; as well as, improve the quality and consistency of final products.

Analyze complex product specifications, parts drawings, and other engineering data to develop new production processes, estimate time requirements for each step, and prepare operation sheets.

Investigate complex non-routine process and product issues and implement effective solutions by applying standard techniques and procedures.

Initiate continuous improvement projects that will minimize risks and costs while improving productivity, quality, and consistency of products.

Perform process capability studies and audits as required to maintain the highest level of product quality.

Plan and prepare for product changes and the related impact on production processes.

Coach and mentor less experienced engineers, check the quality of their work, and help resolve problems.

Participate in regularly scheduled team meetings.n QUALIFICATIONS:n n Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field of study OR the equivalent combination of education and/or years of relevant work experience.

Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in Project Management, Process Planning, or Process Analysis, preferably within the Automotive sector of the Manufacturing industry.n REQUIRED SKILLS:n n Advanced understanding of Automotive Assembly processes.

Proven expertise in Project Management.

Ability to clearly communicate technical information, both verbally and in writing.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint).

Effective and detail-oriented presentation abilities.

Excellent decision making and problem-solving skills.n PREFERRED SKILLS:n n Experience working in a pre-production manufacturing environment.

Demonstrated record of implementing “Work Standardization.” Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Automotive Manufacturing Systems, and Six Sigma Design and Methodology.

Knowledge of system applications such as MTM analysis, AM Supply, Engineering Client 3D drawings, Proplan/Difa planning systems, and/or Dialog.

German language skills.n PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:n n Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to, sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
