Supervision is received from the collections manager.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Performs due diligence, exit interviews, and skip-tracing.Assists in the collection of all university loans, deferred payments, damageCharges, checks returned by bank, and National Defense/Direct Student Loans.Assists in the preparation and distribution of invoices and statements.Reviews reports and invoices received from collection agencies and billing companies.Computes principal and interest to be cancelled.Maintains promissory notes and follow-up correspondence files.Bills outside sponsors for scholarships and other financial assistance.Prepares loan amortization schedules.Identifies and analyzes problem accounts.Performs other duties as assigned.Job Requirements:Minimum Position Requirements (including certifications, licenses, etc.):A bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related fieldTwo (2) years of professional level experience in accounting or auditing workKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Considerable knowledge of collections and billing systemsConsiderable knowledge of computer based accounting systemsConsiderable knowledge of due diligence proceduresConsiderable knowledge of applicable state and federal regulations and proceduresAbility to communicate effectively with faculty, staff and studentsAdditional Information:SALARY:The salary for each position is based on the grade/tier in which the position is placed, and the salary within the grade/tier is based on the number of years of related experience or number of years in the hiring rank.CLOSING DATE: Open Until FilledAlabama A&M University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action EmployerAlabama A&M University encourages applications for employment from persons who are members of groups that have been underrepresented based on race, color, national origin, gender, age, or disability.
