We are looking for talented individuals who enjoy building firmware for embedded processors, prototyping concepts, investigating new technologies, and delivering high-quality products.As a HID firmware engineer, you will be working on bringing up new sensing chipsets and processors from specification to production for the primary user interface on our devices: touch!Key QualificationsCurious about how and why things workAbility to write in C or C++ for Embedded SystemsExperience working with microcontrollers with analog and digital sensorsWorking knowledge of one or more communication protocols ( e.G.
UART, SPI, I2C )Experience implementing firmware in bare-metal or RTOS environmentsProven capability in applying software best-practices to firmware designsProven board bring-up and debug skillsStrong communication and collaboration skillsDescriptionAs a HID firmware engineer working on many of Apple’s embedded sensors, you will be expected to: bring up new sensing chipsets and processors from initial specification to production quickly debug and effectively close out system issues related to your firmware architect, implement, and maintain complex firmware designs write clean, easy to understand, robust, and sustainable code tailored for embedded systems negotiate, specify and document communication protocols, system states, and FW/SW feature requirements with the SW team help select microcontrollers, define power management strategies, and review schematics with the HW team collaborate with the QE teams to inform and craft their white-box testingEducation & ExperienceBS or MS in CS/CE/EECSAdditional RequirementsExperience with one or more 32-bit microcontroller cores (ARM, MSP430, MicroChip)Debugging skills with JTAG, Oscilloscopes, and/or Logic analyzersDevelopment experience on Unix, Linux, or Mac OS is preferredFamiliarity with touch sensing technologies is a plusFamiliarity with other languages such as Python or Objective-C is a plusApple’s most important resource, our soul, is our people.
