The mission of the AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) program is to strengthen communities and develop leaders through team-based national and community service.

NCCC’s Summer of Service 2022 team leader role is a full-time, short-term service opportunity for anyone interested in gaining leadership experience in environmental work.

You’ll train in Aurora, Colo., then deploy with your team of 6-12 AmeriCorps members, ages 18-26, to a project site within the U.S.

No prior climate or environmental work experience is required.

Training Location: Aurora, CO Requirements to serve: Must be 18 years or older Must be a U.S.

Citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident of the U.S.

Must possess a valid driver’s license Must pass an initial drug screening test upon arrival to the program Must be available to leave your hometown and serve full-time from June 1
– Aug.

17 Must demonstrate an ability to lead a team of 8-12 young adults Benefits: During service, you will receive: Basic expenses, including communal housing, meals, and a limited health benefit.

All program-related travel, including to your training location, projects, and back home after your service term.

?Position Description: You will lead a team through a direct, hands-on service project in one of the following focus areas: reducing greenhouse gas emissions, conserving lands and waters, or adapting to the changing climate.

Specific potential project types include the following: renewable energy and energy efficiency; agriculture and food systems; education/training on greenhouse gas emissions; conservation; access to outdoor recreation; natural and cultural resource preservation; and natural disaster preparedness, resilience, mitigation, response, and recovery.

As a team leader, you will be crucial to your team’s success.

You’ll be responsible for directing, motivating, and mentoring a diverse team of young people.

Partner organizations and NCCC staff will look to you for coordination of project logistics.
