The Compliance Attorney works with the General Counsel, the Compliance Officer, and firm attorneys to provide support in managing various compliance functions.

Location: Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Washington, DC; Rochester, NY
Responsibilities:
- Review outside counsel agreements, request for proposals, and other documents to identify and resolve potential issues and ensure compliance with applicable statutes, firm policies and ethical standards.
Coordinate such reviews with other stakeholders and functional areas.
- Take leadership role in the firm’s responses to compliance audits.
Coordinate response to due diligence requests with other functional areas.
Engage with clients’ attorneys or compliance staff as needed.
- Review firm vendor agreements to ensure compliance with statutory and client requirements, including presence of statutorily or client-required terms related to privacy, security, anti-corruption, sustainability, and human rights.
- Coordinate with cross-functional vendor management team to ensure procurement process includes appropriate and timely due diligence and that the firm develops and implements procedures to monitor vendors’ compliance with contractual terms.
- Proactively engage in compliance efforts related to government contracts, US business laws (e.g., SEC regulations) and, as needed, HR and employment laws (e.g., FCRA compliance).
- Maintain accurate records and tracking systems to ensure effective documentation in firm databases of various agreements and documents within scope of responsibility (e.g., outside counsel agreements, vendor agreements, client audit responses, firm policies).
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- 7-9 years of experience as a practicing attorney.
- Experience as a law firm associate in litigation or regulatory affairs, or as in-house counsel with a compliance focus, strongly preferred.
- Juris Doctor degree; Must be an active member in good standing in a state bar.
- Possess improvement skills and ability to take initiative to identify issues, propose solutions and then implement those solutions.
- Excellent project management skills and a proven ability to deliver high quality work.
- Collaborative leadership style, soliciting ideas and opinions from others in making decisions/plans or problem-solving.
- Exceptional analytical, decision-making, and critical thinking skills.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to speak authoritatively with lawyers about compliance issues.
