Lakeland Department: Maintenance JOB TITLE: Utilities Technician PAY RATE: $30.05 SHIFT: AM (may vary by project) OF OPENINGS: 1 HOURS: 7:00 AM
– 3:30 PM (may vary by project) (Starting times and hours may vary depending on coverage due to report-offs and the production schedule especially during holidays.) JOB DUTIES:
• Responsible for service and repair of air compressors, boilers, hot and cold-water systems, soft-water conditioners, forty-degree rooms, HVAC systems, air conditioning equipment, power utilities equipment.

• Maintaining and operating Industrial Refrigeration systems (Ammonia and CO2.)
• Conducting daily rounds to observe and record temperatures, humidity levels, and making minor adjustments.

• Working from requests to repair and perform predictive and preventative maintenance procedures on ammonia and CO2 refrigeration systems including, but not limited to compressors, pumps, fans, heat exchangers, glycol systems, various industrial utility systems, motors, and power distribution systems.

• Participate in improvement activities that includes improving processes, making recommendations to enhance systems, prioritizing work assignments and minimizing down time to production and refrigeration systems.

• Monitor the boilers and air compressors, perform or schedule preventative and corrective work as needed.

• Provide test for water treatment analysis, boiler control and combustion efficiency.

• Perform other duties as required by supervision.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• Holds an Ammonia Operator and willing to obtain a Boiler Operator certification.

• Experience using hand tools.

• Able to handle and recycling instructions for CO2 and ammonia refrigerant.

• Able to safely replace mechanical and electrical components including motors, motor starters, switches, solenoids, pumps, refrigeration valves, compressors, and auxiliary refrigeration equipment.

• Able to read and interpret schematics and drawings.

• Experience in SAP preferred.

• Self-motivation with a strong drive for results; must be able to deliver objectives with only minimal supervision.

• Proven leadership ability; must serve as a role model in the areas of safety, quality, workplace conduct, attendance, etc.

Effective verbal and written skills.

• Computer proficiency is required in Outlook, SAP, Microsoft office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

• Ability to multi-task and set priorities.

• Willing to assist other team members in other areas.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Must have medical clearance to wear respiratory protection (air purifying respirators properly fitted)
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
• Conform to all OSHA, PSM, HAZMAT, and safety programs and regulations.

• Ability to walk, lift, bend, stoop, climb ladders, walking on roofs, and working in confined spaces.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• The Utilities Technician will be required to work at elevations requiring fall protection such as a safety harness.

• Driving and using Forklifts, Boom lifts and waves, must be able to get certified for all.
