Test Technician

We are seeking a Fiber Test Technician at our East Granby CT location.  Responsibilities include: 

• Performing production optical and mechanical testing of optical fibers using standard automated tests and non-automated specialized tests in accordance with documented procedures
• Performing routine calibration checks on test benches and updating calibration database
• Exporting data from manual benches and use macros to convert to final data reporting format
• Active involvement with fiber test and measurement quality systems
• Transacting work status in Oracle ERP system

 
Working Conditions:

• Overtime when required to meet deadlines is paid at 1-1/2 time with supervisory approval
• Ability to move up to 20 pounds is required
• Work environment is a low-noise level lab, some work requires wearing safety glasses, sitting 50%, standing 50%.
• Required Qualifications:
• One or more years of hands-on technical experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment OR a relevant technical or engineering-based Associates degree or Certification
• Computer proficiency, basic Excel skills

 
Desired Qualifications:

• Demonstrated fine motor skills to perform manual tasks & attention to detail to accurately perform repetitive tasks
• Previous fiber handling experience
• Optical test measurement experience
• Knowledge of basic electronics
• Ability to analyze results to determine validity of testing
• Knowledge of production concepts such as calibration and quality systems
• Knowledge of or experience with fiber optics technology strongly desired
• Ability to understand, follow and in some cases create documented operation procedures
• Ability to multi-task and switch from task to task at short notice is a desirable quality
