Previous oral surgery experience a plus but not required.
The role of the Sterilization Technician is critical to the success of the surgeon to provide exceptional patient care resulting in the best clinical outcomes and meets the needs of our patients. Sterilization Technician provide a variety of patient care and office duties as described below.
Role and Responsibilities
· Collecting used and contaminated equipment, instruments and supplies for sorting and decontamination
· Manually cleaning supplies of contaminants, removing waste matter and operating and maintain decontamination equipment
· Preparing and packaging decontaminated supplies for sterilization
· Monitoring and maintaining sterilization equipment
· Examining supplies meticulously to ensure they are properly cleaned and sanitized
· Routine testing, reporting and filing any issues or problems with sterilization equipment
· Sterilizing, preparing, wrapping and organizing equipment into instruments trays for using during medical procedures
· Preparing and delivering all necessary equipment and instruments for procedures, examination, surgeries and medical charts
· Maintaining records of sterilization procedures, sterilized items, equipment maintenance and supplies
· Monitoring inventory and supplies
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· High School diploma or equivalent required
· Certification in sterile processing and Distribution preferred
· Certified or licensed dental assistant preferred
· One-year experience preferred
