Quality Technician

Pretium Packaging

This is a Contract position in Paris, IL posted November 24, 2021.

Pretium is seeking a Quality Inspector/Technician on our night shift (8 pm – 8 am).

This person performs quality assurance inspection and review of in-coming material, work-in-progress, and finished products to determine conformance with established specifications. Reports findings of deviations from Acceptable Quality Levels to production, technical, quality and management personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited

to the following:

1. Performs assigned duties and acts in a manner that adheres to company safety policies and practices. Safety is a top priority in all aspects of this job.

2. Performs necessary testing of manufactured product in accordance with established procedures. Testing includes, but is not limited to: resins, color, specifications, top load, overflow, vacuum, drop, flame, cycle and others as necessary and as directed.

3. Examines material or product for surface and dimensional defects not manufactured in accordance with specifications.

4. Performs required statistical testing of manufactured product using proper tools to ensure conformance with established specifications.

5. Performs finished goods sample inspection of packaged products prior to movement to warehouse storage area. Inspections include proper labels and cartons used, and correct visible attributes such as carbon, die lines, flash, color, flame, distribution, moils, dips, programmer lines and other defects as identified.

6. Performs AQL inspection of possible outbound problem production and customer-required outbound inspections.

7. Rejects defective materials and products and provides proper documentation and notification to quality and production personnel in support of inspection findings.

8. Communicates deviations from established specifications to Shift Production Foreman, Quality Assurance Manager, Quality Assurance Lab personnel, and other technical personnel on a timely basis.

9. Maintains accurate calibration and standardization of testing equipment. Uses measuring devices for accurate and consistent conformity to specifications.

10. Works closely with all personnel in a safe and respectful manner to achieve quality and production goals.

11. Trains employees in quality performance.

12. Provides line quality inspection support as needed.

13. Maintains an organized work area.

14. Displays teamwork in performance of all duties.

15. Participates in all required training.

16. Supports the goals and objectives of Pretium Packaging through adherence to company policies, safety guidelines, and work requirements for successful completion of all assignments, including overtime as necessary.

17. Performs all other duties as assigned or modified.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

a. High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Six months of related production or inspector/packer experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

b. Knowledge of quality measuring tools including calipers, pin gauges, scales and other testing equipment, MIL 105E, Tappi Dirt Chart, and PVCC Clarity Chart.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 – $21.00 per hour
