Under the direction of the Parks & Landscape Lead Worker, the temporary/seasonal worker duties will predominantly be mowing and string trimming but may perform a variety of duties assisting with the upkeep of the Citys Landscape and Lighting District (L&Ls) and municipal parks, including planting, pruning of trees and shrubs, deadheading, weeding, fertilizing, and irrigation system repair.
Example of duties may include: Maintains planted areas, repairs irrigation systems; operates and maintains vehicles; heavy machinery, and a variety of equipment; may apply fertilizers and pesticides Inspects parks for safety issues; maintains barbecue and picnic areas Performs routine landscape and facility maintenance work, such as sweeping, raking, weed-eating, weeding by hand and hand pruning Incumbent in this position will work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
This is a temporary position and limited to a 1000 hours per fiscal year.
The work schedule will be determined the Parks and Landscape Lead Worker.Education , Experience & Certification.
A typical way of obtaining the required qualifications is to possess the equivalent of two years of significant, directly related, and progressive education and experience in landscape maintenance, and a high school diploma or equivalent.
Possession of CA California drivers license.
