Provides functional support for planning, control, and implementation of engineering projects
Acts as technical interface with customers, manufacturing, quality, purchasing, sales, and suppliers
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Ability to understand product requirements and develop innovative solutions in accordance with cost targets and within the timeframe required
Designs products via the AmesburyTruth Product Development Process which are aligned with applicable industry standards and code requirements
Advises on hardware solutions for customer window and door applications
Works with Product Team to develop specifications for window and door hardware products
Reduces product risk using DFMEA and FEA during the design process
Ensures product manufacturability through participation in Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Lean/Six Sigma exercises during product design
Builds models of product components and assemblies with Inventor and/or Solidworks
Identifies alternative or better performing materials for use in window and door products
Builds product prototypes to share with customers and obtain product feedback
Creates and maintains of Bills of Material within the corporate ERP system
Partners with IT to extract desired data from ERP system or perform mass uploads of new data
Creates well-written product documentation and application notes to communicate key technical information to customers efficiently and clearly
Recommends new products and product modifications
Maintains responsibility for generating and executing Engineering Changes (ECR/ECO)
Manages projects using project management and communication tools
Develops and facilitates product training for internal and external customers
Performs testing on products as needed for development and customer needs
Works with internal team to identify and implement cost savings opportunities

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must be proficient in 2D and 3D CAD (Inventor/SolidWorks)
Ability to create detailed project plans
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and production equipment for roll-forming, stamping, injection molding, and die-casting processes
Ability to work independently as a strong self-starter
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Qualifications/Prior Experience
Education: BS degree in Mechanical Engineering
3-5 year of experience in Mechanical Engineering Design
1-2 years of experience in Design or Applications Engineering in the Fenestration Industry desired
Exposure to Lean Six Sigma principles desired
Work Environment / Other Requirements
Work is typically performed in a climate-controlled facility with moderate noise levels that are within OSHA limits
Ability to utilize tools/equipment in R&D lab to build/test product prototypes
Must be able to use normal office equipment (scanner, printer, copier, computer)
Must be able to travel domestically & internationally
Must be able to lift 25-50lbs occasionally
