Mechanical CAD Specialist

Houston Mechatronics Inc.

This is a Full-time position in Webster, MA posted November 28, 2021.

This position is responsible for collaborating with mechanical engineers and manufacturing personnel to maintain and improve the quality of the mechanical components.

This person will be required to work primarily within SolidWorks CAD package to maintain the libraries of components and assemblies.

He/she will also work with the manufacturing team to improve the quality of our design outputs: Bill of Materials, Drawings, Fully dimensioned models.

Job Duties:

  • Manage SolidWorks PDM Parts Library including maintenance of existing parts and commonly shared parts.
  • Exercise all tools within the SolidWorks 2018 ecosystem.
  • Update and maintain component Bill of Materials.
  • Work with Manufacturing to update parts as needed based on QA/QC, cost optimization, or ease of manufacturing.

Job Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • Associate degree in electrical/mechanical drafting or Computer Aided Design.
  • At least four (4) years of work experience creating and updating mechanical design/drawing packages.
  • At least four (4) years of recent experience using SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM and any other packages within SolidWorks.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work within strict deadlines.

Preferred:

  • Professional certification in mechanical drafting.
  • Experience with SolidWorks Electrical package.
  • Experience with ASME-Y14 drafting standards.
  • Design for manufacturing (DFM).
  • Experience within the automotive, aerospace, or robotics industries.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee will also be frequently required to stand.
  • The employee must frequently lift, push, or pull equipment at a minimum of 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, maneuver in tight spaces, and stand for extended periods

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing some duties of this job, the employee may be required to travel domestically and internationally.

This role may also require exposure to a variety of construction and/or offshore platform, various bodies of water job sites.

The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud.

The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas, which may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.
