Our business helps support their way of life and contributes to the survival of a culture that has thrived in a challenging environment.Job Summary:The mechanic helper/laborer are responsible for detailing and cleaning all ground support equipment cabs, engines, compartments and providing support on all ground support equipment and will maintain the appearance of all ground support equipment.
(Motorized and non-motorized, gasoline and diesel fueled).
The MECHANIC HELPER/LABORER (GSE) position is a support services position whose work routine is established and follows a set of procedures.
It generally functions under close supervisory direction or guidance of the Lead GSE.Responsibilities:Assist GSE Technicians.Operate ground service equipment (GSE).Cleans engines (gasoline and diesel).Responsible for maintaining safety and security of the ramp at all times.Observe safe ground handling procedures and maintenance of ground handling equipment, including the performance of equipment checks.Fueling.Miscellaneous duties as assigned by Supervisor and Manager.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Be at least 18 years of age.Possess a valid driver’s license.Must be a U.S.
citizen or show proof of right to work in the U.S.High School graduate or GED.Must be willing to work in inclement weather.Good communication skills.Ability to lift 60 pounds comfortably.Able to fluently read, write, speak and understand English.Ability to work under stressful situations and tight time constraints.Must be a self starter and willing to take the initiative.Able and willing to work without direct supervision.Required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules.Successfully complete a background investigation, including FBI fingerprints, criminal historyand pre-employment drug test.May be required to travel 25% of the timeAccept all other duties as assignedLanguage Skills:Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals.Write routine reports and correspondence.Speak effectively one-to-one and before groups of customers or employees of the organizationMath Skills:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Reasoning Abilities:Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram form.Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.Physical Demands: Moderate.The mechanic helper/laborer on occasion may lift or move with help up to 200 pounds, and/or more frequently lift or move 70 to 100 pounds, and constantly lift or move up to 50 pounds the GSE is regularly required to use hands, talk, hear, bend, stoop, kneel, and is frequently required to stand, walk.
The GSE may be required to climb, sit, and balance.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.The mechanic helper/laborer is usually working outside and is exposed to all types of weather conditions with a seasonal range of temperatures, which include rain, snow, wind, and extreme temperatures.The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can vary dramatically depending on location and time of day.
