Instrumentation/Electrical Technician
Galata Chemicals, LLC is a specialty chemical company manufacturing and marketing additives primarily used in PVC applications around the world. The business has been established for over 50 years with manufacturing and sales globally and commenced commercial operations as Galata Chemicals in May of 2010.
The Maintenance Technician – I/E Specialty is responsible for safely installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical, electronic and pneumatic systems (motor controls, power supplies, sensors, alarms, control logics, metering devices, programmable logic controllers). Additional requirements are troubleshooting instrument and electrical issues, maintaining Delta V system, performing basic maintenance, calibrating and testing instrumentation and electrical equipment, and participating in PHA, PSSR and MOC reviews at our Taft manufacturing site, located near New Orleans, Louisiana.
Job Scope
Instrumentation 50%
Read and understand manuals, schematics, and P&IDs; Calibrate, test, inspect, operate, troubleshoot, repair and maintain electronic and pneumatic devices; Assist as need in the installation, programming, and troubleshooting PLCs; Have a working knowledge of process control fundamentals; Tune PID controllers; Working knowledge of DCS, DeltaV preferred.
Electrical 50%
Perform and schedule routine maintenance, preventative maintenance and major equipment repairs on all electrical equipment; Design layout work on panels; Set, interpret, and alter drawings, wiring diagrams, and blueprints; Perform insections of electrical switchgear; Working knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration equipment; Properly use high voltage test equipment; Re-fuse high voltage lines; Remove and repair switchgear; Troubleshoot and repair motors for bearing and electrical failure; Properly size and install wire and conduit; Troubleshooting and maintenance of various types of lighting, and lighting fixtures and electrical system at facility; Maintain loop drawing documentation; Assist in the update and maintenance of all site I/E Drawings
Candidate Profile
Min of High School Diploma or equivalent; AS degree in Instrumentation and/or Electrical preferred; min 5 yrs. hands on experience in chemical manufacturing environment; Prior experience working with DCS (Delta V preferred), PLC and thorough understanding of instrumentations; Demonstrate a high degree of proficiency in either instrument field or electrical field and demonstrate some proficiency in the other; Extensive knowledge of standard practices, principles, methods, materials, and tools used in the electrical, solid-state electronic, and pneumatic instrument trades; Working knowledge of the NEC and trade hazards; Experience in reading, modifying and developing blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics; Mechanical aptitude, including knowledge and use of hand tools; Computer usage – PC and calculators
