Job Summary The Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, disassembling, assessing, repairing, and testing the functionality of mechanical equipment used in the production of high precision glass products for the medical industry.
The technician will perform mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical repairs and maintenance of equipment, along with monitoring, inspecting, and adjusting equipment when not in operational compliance.
The Maintenance Technician will also suggest ideas for continuous improvement projects.
Along with focusing on equipment, the Maintenance Technician will also be responsible for performing maintenance on the facility when the scope of work falls within the expected skillset.
This includes changing ballasts, lights, basic plumbing, changing HVAC filters, and more.
The ideal candidate is a hardworking self-starter with the ability to solve challenging problems with proper judgement.
This individual should require minimal supervision.
This position will also have no direct reports.
Duties/ Responsibilities The essential functions of this position include, but not limited to: Must be able to troubleshoot mechanical assemblies, understand classes of fit, along with being able to read blueprints.
Setup machines and equipment for production runs to aid the production departments.
Use basic hand and power tools to address issues with equipment and facilities.
Utilize basic machine shop equipment to modify, fabricate, or repair parts of equipment.
Installation and troubleshooting of the electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic components of equipment.
Communicate problems, root-cause, and corrective actions between shifts through end of day shift report and shift tie in.
Maintain a clean and organized work area while working on equipment or facility.
The ability to research solutions to problems by investigating relevant sources such as the internet, equipment manuals, and communicating with the manufacturer, or engineering.
Perform Preventative Maintenance Tasks as assigned by the internal CMMS system.
Other duties as required or assigned.
Knowledge/Skills Working knowledge of machine design and machine components, electrical diagrams, and components.
Working knowledge of industrial electrical and manufacturing electronics.
Working knowledge of controls systems, PLC’s, relay logic.
Must be highly motivated and capable of self-direction.
Excellent written and oral skills.
Ability to establish priorities while being flexible to accommodate changes.
Working knowledge of HVAC and plumbing is a plus.
Basic knowledge and experience with common machine shop equipment is a plus.
Welding experience (MIG/TIG/Plasma Cutting) is preferred.
Lifting, pushing, pulling, moving of equipment up to 60 lbs.
is required along with needing to sit, squat, kneel, for an extended period.
PIT/PIV License is a plus but not required.
Education Associates Degree or Certification in a Maintenance related field.
Additional courses related to the engineering fields are advantageous.
Experience Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Maintenance or a Mechanic related field, experience in a Manufacturing related position is preferred.
Applicable certifications in manufacturing and maintenance related fields are preferred.
