Maintenance Mechanic

Job Summary
Under general supervision, performs a variety of duties in building and equipment maintenance and repair. Performs maintenance and repair work to prevent or correct breakdown of machinery, operational equipment or in-facility service of a generalized or specialized nature. Under limited supervision and with increasingly wider range of duties of a more complex nature, such as: Performs work in more than one of the maintenance trades as hydraulics, plumbing, refrigeration, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding. Interprets blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications. Sets up and operates all tools and equipment necessary to perform work assigned. Typically requires completion of a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
Reliability & Maintenance Mechanic

Location: Carpinteria, CA

Payrate: $24-26 per hour

Shift: 2nd and 3rd Shifts available

$1500.00 sign on bonus!!!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts.
• Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
• Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts.
• Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
• Lubricates and cleans parts.
• Starts devices to test their performance.
• May set up and operate drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
• May initiate purchase order for parts and machines.
• Repairs electrical equipment.
• Must be regular and punctual in attendance
• Responsible for maintaining quality within the scope of the job description.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May train and oversee daily duties of lower-level mechanics.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
