Leading pharmaceutical company located in Eastern Long Island is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to be responsible for the setup, breakdown, repairs, and preventive maintenance of equipment/systems used for conveying sterile containers and liquid filling of vials/ampules. THIS IS A 3RD SHIFT ROLE (11PM – 7:30 AM) This position offers an hourly rate of $32p/h + 15% night differential + 7% target annual bonus + overtime. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Setting up and breaking down sterile liquid filling machines in a sterile environment Troubleshooting equipment/system issues Performing equipment preventive maintenance Identifying and correcting unsafe conditions Work in a safe manner using the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Correct/report unsafe behaviors or equipment Ensure proper change parts in associated fill rooms needed for setups Maintain housekeeping of own work area Perform any other tasks/duties as assigned by management. Job Requirements:Education Requirements and Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required, vocational or trade school certification highly preferred. 7 years of sterile processing experience, with a concentration in filling process advance knowledge 7 years of previous mechanical experience in the manufacturing working environment required. Use of small hand tools such as multi-meter, band saw, and drill. Knowledge of 120V- 208V AC/ 3-24VDC, troubleshooting down to electronic components is a plus but not necessary. Knowledge of 3phase electrical systems Knowledge of pneumatics, solid state relays, and transformers. Knowledgeable in cGMP (Current Good Manufacturing Practices) preferred. Advanced knowledge of and ability to troubleshoot manufacturing machineries. Well versed in safety programs (e.g. Lock out / Tag out, line breaking) Advanced skills including: electrical, welding, machinery troubleshooting, and mechanical equipment. Able to read and understand engineering electrical schematics and mechanical drawings. Able to follow instructions and document activities as outlined in SOPs (Standard Operation Procedures) Basic knowledge of PLC based control systems. Basic Microsoft Office and Windows skills. Flexibility to work multiple shifts and off hours during shutdown plus some overtime. This position is part of a multi-shift operation and may require assignment to a regular off shift and/or weekends schedule Physical Environment and Requirements Employees must maintain a clean-shaven appearance each working shift to wear tight-fitting respirators properly. Physically able to wear cleanroom/protective gowning and equipment, including gowning, goggles, face shields, respirators, and protective gloves. PPE and Respirators are essential for the health and safety of employees. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for prolonged periods of time while fulfilling job duties.
