Machine Assembly Technician 2nd Shift (Electrical)

This is a Contract position in Dewitt, KY posted December 2, 2021.

Job Description As a machine assembly technician in the electrical department, you will assemble proprietary items and control systems for complex automated equipment to design specifications within the allotted time with minimal supervision.

This position includes the integration of various AGR equipment built as well as equipment built by other manufacturers.

On occasion tasks may include building maintenance and activities of Class 1 and Class 2 Electrical Assembly Technicians.

Work at the direction of the Operations Manager, to complete work in a timely manner.

Provide direction to lower level electrical assemblers so that tasks assigned to them are completed correctly and to design specifications.

Use Electrical Schematics, verbal instruction and other documentation to wire, debug and test equipment to design specifications.

Install and wire all required control devices on equipment, panels and enclosures.

Integrate power, control, safety and vision systems of various workstations and machines into complex automated machinery being built.

Install boxes, trough and other related items on equipment being built.

Assist in the testing process with the Assembly Team Identify errors and update schematics, blue prints and other documentation for job reviews.

Identify opportunities to provide cost effective alternative methods and / or materials.

Keep the Operations Supervisor informed of problems, progress and suggestions in a timely manner.

Provide feedback to Operations Supervisor to identify training required by new applications or experience.

Take appropriate measures to prevent accidents or damage to equipment.

Work as a team to maximize productivity and quality.

Provide assistance to others.

Show a constant interest in learning other activities or skills.

Participate in job reviews when appropriate.

Train customers on equipment if necessary.

Provide “on-the job” training to lower level techs as needed.

Be consistently at work and punctual; clock job times accurately.

Maintain an orderly work area and cleanup work area at the end of the day.

Demonstrate application of acquired knowledge from Lean training.

Strive to meet or exceed AGR Quality Standards and participate in continuous improvement efforts.

Observe company policy, safety and security procedures.

Perform all activities in conformance with the AGR Quality System and ISO procedures.

Requirements Ability to operate equipment and tools required for the electrical assembly process.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings or other documentation and to work to verbal instructions.

Ability to identify wiring diagram errors, size wire gauges to anticipated loads and to apply NEC, NFPA, CE and CSA standards when necessary.

Ability to work well with others in a team environment and in problem solving situations.

Skill in wire soldering, identifying, routing and terminating wires.

Basic knowledge of control and vision systems.

Be knowledgeable in math and able to conduct accurate measurements when performing layout tasks.

Familiarity with voltage and amperage ratings.

Ability to recognize safety hazards and maintain safe practices.

Knowledge of spreadsheet and word processing software.

Valid driver’s license and US passport Work Environment Risk of electrical shock.

Occasionally exposed to fumes, dust.

Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and heights.

Moderate noise level.

Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Material handling equipment is available at all times.

Regularly required to use hands for a variety of tasks.

Must be able to reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.

Ability to walk, stand, and sit, occasionally to climb, balance, stoop, kneel.

Frequently lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Good vision, including ability to discern colors, eye / hand coordination and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time 2nd shift position, and typical work hours are Monday through Friday 2:00 p.m.

to 10:30 p.m.

Overtime is on an as needed basis and at the direction of the Operations Manager.

Travel Travel with reasonable notice, for installation, training and service work.

Preferred Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent Completion of an Industrial Electrician Apprenticeship, or equivalent, and five to ten years of related experience.
