LifeTech Diagnostics
Primary Accountabilities:
The Laboratory/Phlebotomy Technician role is responsible for accurately and efficiently collecting patient samples and carrying out related technical work, including sample preparation, sample processing and results tabulation and communication while maintaining strict HIPPA Compliance for LifeTech Sciences, LLC (LifeTech).
Major Duties:
· Greets patients, verifies their identity, explains tests, and answers any questions they might
have.
· Collects and labels all samples by following established procedures and policies.
· Maintains lab equipment in a clean and safe manner.
· Record tests performed and patient samples taken into databases.
· Transports samples in a timely manner and in accordance with outlined policies and
procedures.
· Completes all work in accordance with outlined laboratory guidelines, and federal, state,
and local requirements.
· Performs duties as delegated by superior.
· Maintains strict HIPPA Compliance.
· Actively participates in and carries out laboratory operations, including sample handling,
preparation and testing, operational planning, personnel training and competency and
quality planning measures.
· Follows and adheres to all laboratory SOPs and protocols.
· Adheres to all Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures.
· Ensures Proficiency Testing Samples are tested and reviewed by appropriate staff.
· Carries out corrective actions and recommended by superior.
· Monitors the laboratory processes to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance
are maintained, including review of quality control, instrument, and equipment
maintenance, and other quality assurance activities.
· Assures all remedial actions are taken when test systems deviate from the laboratorys
established performance specifications.
· Ensures patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and
the test system is properly functioning.
· Protects LifeTechs value by keeping all company information confidential.
· Performs other work-related duties as the need arises.
Qualifications:
Required
· Certified Nurses Aid or Phlebotomy certification.
· Must possess a willingness to work with human specimens in a regulated BSL-2 laboratory
environment.
· Must be dedicated individual with strong communication skills who is able to work
independently and in a team environment.
· Must work efficiently and accurately delivering results for project deadlines and testing
turnaround.
· Successful completion of all pre-employment background checks, drug screening and
physical capacity assessments.
· Ability to accurately read, interpret, and follow the direction of all safety manuals, applicable
laws and regulations, SOPs, GMPs, and instructions.
· Ability to effectively work in a high pressure, fast-paced environment and be held
accountable for results with little supervision.
· Ability to multi-task effectively with attention to detail and quality.
Preferred
· Familiarity with clinical diagnostic testing preferred.
· Familiarity with CLIA/CAP/COLA regulatory documentation preferred.
Physical Demands:
Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk and hear.
Frequently lifts and/or moves up to ten (10) pounds and occasionally lifts and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
Work Environment:
Duties are performed in a professional and deadline-oriented environment in an office or laboratory setting.
· Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and food allergens.
Interaction with staff, customers, and suppliers.
Some travel required.
