Description

The Installation Technician travels up to 100% within Southern CA area (or other regions in the U.S.

as required) to install Hillrom’s Trumpf Medical surgical lights, booms and operating room equipment into operating rooms within integrated healthcare system customer locations.

Technicians perform all aspects of the mechanical installation process and own the installation of equipment for the first 30 days including responding to minor service requests, ordering missing components,and resolving unforeseen or complex installation issues.

Our Installation Technicians use their Project Management skills to track projects in process, to follow up on component orders and to manage installations.

Technicians also provide basic field training to hospital personnel as needed to ensure the successful operation of recently installed equipment or exisiting products.

Must reside within close proximity of a major airport in Southern CA or Las Vegas area

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Perform complex repairs on Trumpf Medical products.

These are repairs beyond simple and minor cosmetic repairs or component replacements:
Visually, audibly, and manually inspect Hill-Rom products for electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or cosmetic problems requiring adjustment or repair
Utilize the appropriate tools in making required adjustments and repairs including monitoring the readings of electronic meters and gauges
Order component replacements and coordinate with the facillty to schedule installation of parts
Respond to service issues with electronic, or pneumatic systems; medical gas troubleshooting and repair of assigned products
Perform technical breakdown of any Trumpf Medical product and document technical performance of the product
Utilize manufacturer service manuals, installation manuals, and documentation to provide troubleshooting, root cause and repair while working independently
Manage projects to maximize the efficiency of installations and demonstrate an understanding of project management.
Meet all customer product installation requirements on schedule; Exercise sound judgment to effectively to satisfy customer demands
Execute the entire installation process, including post-order paperwork flow, pre-installation requirements, structure reviews, and site inspections
Sustain a clean and safe work environment, including 5S activities, and all other general “housekeeping” duties
Provide availability, up to 24/7 basis for account visits, and adapt to a constantly changing daily schedule of activities
Complete written documents (records, reports, and forms) for internal, regulatory, and project documentation
Read and comprehend technical information pertaining to the repair, maintenance, and installation of Trumpf Medical products
Utilize PC, smart phone, tablet to update equipment installation project status, enter product documentation, schedule travel, or submit expense reports
Provide training on new equipment operation to hospital staff and caregivers as needed
Comply with all Hill-Rom and customer policies including Quality System ISO Standards and other applicable standards
Support and understand compliance with all customer service and contractual expectations
Demonstrate a proactive approach to safety awareness and compliance, including training others when necessary
Exhibit administrative paperwork proficiency which includes accuracy and timely submittal of paperwork and providing timely inventory management reconciliation information

Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required, technical training or a technical degree from the military, trade school, college or university preferred
Demonstrated technical aptitude through a minimum of 3 years’ previous mechanical/hands-on experience in a technical or similar capacity.
Experience working with medical devices/FDA regulated products in a hands-on environment, strongly preferred.
Must possess ability to effectively communicate (both written and verbal) relevant project information to clients, superiors and internal customers
Understand how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully
Understand Internet, Intranet, MS Office products to include: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
Ability to read, comprehend, interpret, analyze, and apply technical information including but not limited to technical manuals, technical bulletins, schematics, etc.
Must be available to work extended hours to meet time availability demands of hospital clients including 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift
Must possess exceptional Customer Service skills and maintain a professional appearance
Ability to lead, direct and coordinate technical service projects, positively impacting customer satisfaction
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Ability to resolve conflict and adapt to new technologies
Must be willing and able to travel 100% of the time with in assigned territory, with overnights required.
Overtime may also be required.
Must possess a current valid driver’s license in state of residence
Ability to operate a motor vehicle for extended periods of time
Must be able to provide suitable transportation for carrying the tools and parts required to perform the specific duties
PHYSICAL REQUREMENTS
Must be able to maintain physical condition appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities which include the following:
Able to work extensively on ladders and be able to lift 50lbs minimum overhead, including proper safety and ergonomic procedures
Able to sustain a workload consisting of exerting 50lbs minimum of force overhead frequently, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force regularly and or greater than negligible up to ten pounds of force constantly to move objects
Ability to load, unload, deliver, and remove Trumpf Medical products to and from customer accounts, unassisted using appropriate processes and safety techniques
Possess dexterity in the use of hand and power tools to accomplish the installation / de-installation of Trumpf products
Continuously pushing, pulling, or lifting equipment, stooping, crouching, climbing, twisting or crawling to reach areas not easily accessed
Perform manual labor for extended periods of time under unfavorable and/or extreme conditions; sitting for extended periods of time
Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, stoop and work under product on back for long periods of time
Must wear personal protective equipment including but not limited to safety shoes, eye protection, gloves, and protective clothing.

Gloves supplied include both latex and non-latex materials
Frequently works in environments were biohazards could be present.

i.e.

Hospitals, Service Centers, and Depots
Must comply with Hill-Rom infection control policies
Load, unload, deliver and remove medical devices unassisted
