The primary role will be to support NASA – Marshall Space Flight Center’s Structural Strength Test Branch and contractor personnel in support of NASA research and development, configuration and maintenance of test systems and testing infrastructure. Duties include, but are not limited to performing routine maintenance, installation and integration of various types of mechanical and instrumentation components such as strain gauges, pressure transducers, thermocouples, load cells, hydraulic actuators, tubing, etc. The candidate will interface directly with MSFC customers, technicians and other test team members. The candidate will receive direction from the Department Manager or Team Leads and must be able to work from written and verbal instructions. The candidate will perform other duties as required.

Desired skills and experience for this position:
- Associates Degree -OR- High School diploma and/or equivalent technical experience.
- Background in machine tool operations, heavy lifting operations, mechanical fabrication/assembly disciplines, knowledge of welding operations
- Background in instrumentation applications, data collection, network maintenance, electrical assembly, soldering, crimping, fabricating various types of cables/connectors.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and workmanship.
- Must be dependable and have the ability to work hours outside the normal schedule.
- Good communication (written and verbal) skills in order to gather, understand, meet customer requirements.
- Must demonstrate professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.

Minimum requirements for this position:
- High school diploma or GED and one (1) year of applicable experience.
- Must be able to pass a physical examination for any required safety-related certifications.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening.
- Must be able to pass a security background check per Redstone Arsenal/MSFC requirements.
- Licenses: Valid State Driver’s License.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Experience should include a working knowledge of Microsoft (MS) Windows Operating. Systems (OS) for personal computers and MS Office products.
What you’ll do all day:
- Work as part of a dynamic team to support the buildup and facilitation of structural strength test operations.
- Support NASA and contractor test engineers and project managers to build and complete structural strength test projects.
- Communicate with engineers, technicians, and customers to discover and develop requirements with the goal of optimizing current and future designs.
- Perform preventative and routine maintenance of network and instrumentation systems and network infrastructure equipment.
