Our esteemed client, one of the world’s leading photonics manufacturers and innovators, has a phenomenal opportunity for an Engineering Technician to join their organization on a temporary basis. The successful candidate will be challenged in manufacturing highly competitive products, working with state-of-the art fiber assembly technology.
Hours: 7:00AM – 3:30PM, Monday – Friday
Pay: $16.00 – $18.00/hour based on experience
Responsibilities:
- Assembly of custom fiber optic products.
- Hands-on processes such as fiber connectorization, cleaving, splicing, and other fiber-centric processes.
- Must be familiar with fiber stripping, cleaving, polishing, and final laser testing of fiber sub-assemblies.
- Will assist with equipment set-up and troubleshooting of equipment problems.
- Will learn about fiber “glass working technologies’ and the operation of large fiber diameter fusion splicers, cleavers, and other processing equipment.
- Will be responsible for polishing development for fiber connectorization.
- Will learn about fiber assembly characterization measurements.
- Other duties as required including cross-training.
Education and Work experience:
- 1+ years hands-on industry experience assembling and manufacturing fiber optic devices.
- Prior experience assembling products from drawings, sketches, procedures, or verbal instruction.
- Experience with production and assembly of fiber components.
- Fiber characterization experience is a plus.
- High precision packaging is a plus.
- Be self-motivated with a driven personality.
- Work well in teams.
- Have good written and verbal communication skills.
