Electronic/Mechanical Technician

Barnes Aerospace MRO East Granby Division has an exciting and challenging career opportunity for an Electronic/Mechanical Technician.

This position requires experience, initiative and ingenuity and the ability to work independently to troubleshoot machines and provide electronic and/or mechanical support. 

Core Responsibilities:  
Diagnose and repair CNC machinery with the ability to troubleshoot issues related to drives, controls, encoders, scales, boards, and logic circuits. 
Replace components, boards, logic circuits and other electronic assemblies.

Redesign circuits as required.
Follow blueprints, electrical diagrams, and verbal instructions
Replace AC and DC drives and repair encoders, drives and motors.
Replace or repair power supplies and cables on equipment.
Use oscilloscopes, voltage meter and ohmmeters, electrical schematics, soldering irons, heat guns, and mechanic’s hand and power tools to perform daily functions.

Plan and perform tasks related to building, altering, upgrading and repairing machinery and equipment.
Conduct predictive maintenance assessments, including vibrations analysis, thermo-imaging, ampacity studies, and routine calibration of equipment.    
Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, vendors, and OEM-support services to ensure timely and efficient response to machine issues.
Perform preventative maintenance on machinery used in various production departments.

Change oil, check electrical connections, change belts, filter systems, etc.

 Maintain updated records of repairs and completed preventative maintenance work.
Maintain inventory of electronic spare parts and consumable supplies
Participate in special repair or improvement jobs, improvising where required to meet special requirements.
Maintain equipment and tools.

Make weekly inspections of equipment and facility, detecting maintenance needs and unsafe conditions to ensure reduction of equipment downtime and employee safety.

Alert supervision of need for major repair or replacement of equipment.
Maintain good housekeeping practices on machines and in work area.             
Wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
Comply with all company and safety rules and regulations during course of duties to include personal protective equipment (PPE).
Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:  
Five (5) plus years of experience as Electronic/Mechanical Technician in a manufacturing environment; Aerospace experience preferred.
Strong attention to detail, ability and multi-task and good communication skills.  Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Strong mathematical skills and problem solving with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively to solve complex issues.

Education Requirements:
High school diploma or GED and/or Vocational School, or Electrical Journeyman or equivalent.
