Description:Perform calibration, troubleshooting, repair, and adjustment in the laboratory or in-place on electrical/electronic and fiber optic Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) such as, but not limited to: optical power meters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, multi-meters, power supplies, frequency counters, spectrum analyzers, digital voltmeters, wattmeters, power meters & sensors, decade resistors, and electrical test sets.
With guidance from metrologists, perform the following duties individually or as part of a team in the Metrology laboratory and/or in the field or aboard submarines:
Determine range, accuracy and uncertainty requirements of laboratory equipment necessary to perform valid calibrations and/or repairs; inform supervision of any deficiencies in measurement and/or repair capability and recommend necessary changes to meet requirements.
Perform inspection, troubleshooting, repair, and necessary equipment adjustments to accomplish equipment calibration.
Perform automated calibrations using a variety of platforms.
Monitor the performance of the laboratory standards in use and troubleshoot/repair the laboratory standards as needed.
Use calibration procedures, manufacturers manuals and specifications and data sheets to accomplish work.
Participate in Government and commercial audits and assessments.
Create electronic records of work performed in the laboratory”s calibration data management system
Obtain and maintain qualifications and certifications necessary to perform work described above and perform related duties, as required.
Basic Qualifications:
Possess technical knowledge in the field of electronics equivalent to completion of two years of courses in electronics, metrology, or other related subjects, or successful completion of the basic DoD Calibration School, or an Associate of Science degree in electronics.
Must have demonstrated hands-on calibration, trouble shooting and repair of test equipment in a laboratory environment for two years in the last five years.
Must be a United States citizen. No dual citizenship.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance.
Must be able to ascend and descend stairs and ladders.
Must be able to lift and carry 45lbs throughout the day.
Must possess and maintain a valid drivers license.
Must be willing to work in confined spaces as necessary during in-place calibration of submarine and facilities equipment.
Must be able to work occasional weekends and/or shift work and travel as necessary.
Desired Skills:
Active security clearance
Experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory
Ability to function successfully in a team environment.
Excellent communication skills.
Possess mechanical aptitude and the ability to use general purpose hand tools.
Skilled in the use of computers and ability to learn new computer applications.
Attended various training for metrology, such as DOD PMEL or manufacturer training.
