This is a Contract position in New London, CT posted December 25, 2021.

Pomp’s Tire Service is currently hiring a Commercial Tire Technician. This technician will perform a variety of tire, maintenance, repair, and mounting/dismounting tasks on commercial vehicles and other heavy vehicles based on experience. Prior experience in tire service is preferred but not required. Job Responsibilities:

  • Mounting, dismounting and replacing tires in commercial vehicles
  • Troubleshoot customer tire needs
  • Inspect tires and vehicles for additional problems
  • Use basic hand tools, tire tools, alignment machines, brake lathe, air wrench, and other essential tools to perform the job
  • Maintain clean work environment and equipment
  • Additional tasks as assigned by manager

    • Job Requirements:

  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass pre-employment driver’s file
  • TIA Certifications desired or willing to obtain
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to perform physical aspects of job
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Basic automotive skills and general mechanical knowledge preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate with customers and co-workers
  • Ability to read and verify work order information
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment

    • Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 50 pounds regularly, and over 100 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, continually changing environment
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Frequent standing, twisting, bending, stooping, crouching, and crawling
  • Frequent use of fingers and hands to grasp items, frequent reaching above shoulder
  • Ability to visually inspect tires and vehicles to assess problems and make repairs
