Summary of Duties for Sheet Metal Mechanic Helper A Sheet Metal Mechanic Helper reports to the Sheet Metal Mechanic or, in some cases, to the CHC Job Foreman and is responsible for performing a range of fabrication and installation jobs for industrial, commercial and residential customers.
Activities require an individual possessing traits of mechanical aptitude, initiative, tact, judgment, integrity, dependability, willingness and the ability to learn, listen and communicate in a credible manner.
Job related contact could occur with virtually all-demographic groups, with the majority of working contacts being with the Sheet Metal Mechanic, other CHC employees and the CHC Job Foreman.
Daily job stress will run from minimal to moderate, based on such factors as the weather, site considerations, time constraints, and job needs.
An average workday will be minimal stressful.
Job Duties: Assisting Sheet Mechanic in the fabricating and installing assemblies and systems in buildings, manufacturing plants or work sites according to blueprints, specifications and other resource information using hand tools, portable power tools and other specialized equipment.
Assist inspecting assemblies and installation work for conformance with plans, specifications and trade standards, using naked eye as well as measuring instruments, such as measuring tape, rule, plumb bob or level.
Assist sheet metal mechanic with routine fabrication and installation activities with direct oversight and on-site assistance.
Help set up/operate soldering and welding equipment, fabricating machines, etc.
Measure, size, cut and apply duct insulation Load, transport, unload and furnish experienced craft worker with materials, tools, equipment and supplies.
Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary.
May erect scaffolding reposition scissors lift.
May assist in assembling, lifting, positioning and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.
May perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment.
May smooth seams, joints, or burred surfaces, using files or grinders.
Perform other routine duties as directed by experienced craft people.
Participate in training with CHC Mechanical employees on installation related subjects.
May assist non-installation work in support of the Fabrication Shop and Service Departments, as assigned.
Perform related duties as directed by the applicable Sheet Metal Mechanic or CHC Job Foreman.

Lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds occasionally and up to 60 pounds frequently.
Possess good vision (either naturally or with correction).
Climb and maintain balance on high ladders and scaffolds and other objects and carry tools and equipment.
Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
Must not have fear of heights (acrophobia).
High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
Have good oral and reading skills, including the ability to read, comprehend and apply the information made available, including but not limited to self-study aids, formal on-the-job instruction, the manufacturers’ installation instructions and clearly communicate with other CHC employees.
Demonstrate an interest and initiative in mastering his/her skills through a combination of self-study, company training, manufacturers’ workshops, and other professional development activities.
May require a current Tennessee Operator’s license and the ability to operate all types of vehicles in the corporate fleet within 30 days of initial employment.
If applicable, incumbent must be insurable by CHC Mechanical’s current insurance carrier.
Have the ability to work efficiently, given time pressures, non-standard schedule, extreme weather conditions indicative to job site location, varying customer needs and demands, and backlog constraints.
Possess High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) required.
Must not have fear of heights (acrophobia).
Summary of Duties for Plumbing Helper Assists Plumber/Pipe Fitter Mechanic in the assembling and installing piping systems for sanitary waste, sanitary vent, and domestic water as well as for air, gas, process water, refrigerant, and various other fluid systems.
The Plumber/Pipe Fitter Helper reports to the Plumber/Pipe Fitter Mechanic or in some cases to the CHC Job Foreman and is responsible for assisting in performing a range of Plumbing/Piping installation jobs for industrial, commercial, and residential customers.
Activities require an individual possessing traits of initiative, hustle, judgment, integrity, and dependability.
Job-related contact can occur with virtually all demographic groups, with the majority of working contacts being the Plumber/Pipe Fitter Installation Mechanic, other CHC employees, and the Plumber/Pipe Fitter Foreman.

Job Duties: Cut and drill holes in walls to permit passage of pipes, using various power tools.
Identify specified type and size of pipe.
Mount pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceiling to hold pipe.
Assist Plumber/Pipe Fitter to install valves, coupling, and other fittings.
May disassemble and remove damaged or work pipe.
Load, transport, unload, and furnish experienced craft worker with materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary.
May erect scaffolding or move and reposition scissor lift.
May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing of materials and work pieces during installation.
May perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment.
Perform other routine duties as directed by experienced craft person.
