Where the Chemistry Happens… Senior Technician – Beachwood, OH (2103137) This position is in BASF’s Lithium-ion Battery Research and Development group in Beachwood, OH.

The Senior Technician carries out daily work in the electrochemistry laboratory.

Operating independently with limited supervision, the successful candidate will be engaged in the following tasks: Operate a variety of laboratory equipment for battery electrode preparation and electrochemical cell fabrication and testing; prepare or review job safety analyses and operating instructions Precise and accurate preparation of chemical solutions, solid mixtures, and slurries according to stoichiometric requirements and mixing procedures Perform electrode coating operations with small or large-scale coaters; calendar and punch electrode films; measure physical properties of battery electrodes Fabrication of electrochemical test cells; initialization and monitoring of battery testing according to pre-defined test protocols Record accurate, current experimental data in databases; provide clearly writtenexperimental observations and results for technical reports Resolve minor problems, adapting non-conforming samples to routine preparation and procedures Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory equipment routinely and as needed Assist and participate in training of lab technicians on the operating procedures of laboratory tasks and equipment in compliance with EHS regulations and policies Complete daily housekeeping of work area including proper storage and management of sample inventory Create Your Own Chemistry: What We Offer You… Adding value to our customers begins with adding value to you.

Working for a large, global organization, you’ll have a chance to grow professionally and personally, expand your network and build a rewarding and dynamic career.Qualifications BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalentIngredients for Success: What We Look For In You… Basic Qualifications: BS in Chemistry / Material Science / Chemical Engineering or related science field with 2 years of experience within a laboratory setting; or Associate degree in Chemistry / Material Science / Chemical Engineering or related science field with 5 years of experience in a laboratory setting; or high school diploma or GED with 7 years of working experience in a laboratory environment.

1 year of experience using Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) Preferred Qualifications: Excellent laboratory skills, including detailed record keeping.

Experience in operating large scale coating equipment a plus.

Detail oriented; understanding of and experience with stoichiometric calculations.

Previous experience handling and working with chemicals in a pilot plant environment is a plus.

Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced technical environment.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
