PLEASE NOTE: In order for American Water to evaluate decisions about new regulations, reintegration, and safe operating practices, all employees are required to report their vaccination status.Key AccountabilitiesCalibrate/install/replace flow, pressure and tank level transmitters, and related wiring.Calibrate/check/install/repair water quality analyzers.Read SOS turbine meter readings and RTU readings.Interact with OIT, SCADA.Prepare instrumentation facilities for Winter/Summer.Assist with pitometer flow testing.Calibrate/check/install miscellaneous instrumentation (e.G., air flow monitoring, well level monitoring, ultrasonic level probes, capacitance level probes etc.).Conduct routine troubleshooting work with mechanics as required.Safeguard and rectify RTU malfunction problems.Resolve communication issues for telephone lease lines and/or MOS radio units.Install intrusion, pit flood alarms.Knowledge/SkillsAble to speak, read, write, and understand the English language.Ability to don the multiple levels of personal protection equipment (PPE) including chemical resistant suits, gloves, hats, eye protection, and positive and negative pressure respirators including self-contained breathing apparatusComputer and software literate.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Customer Service focused.Must pass a written pre-qualification test to be eligible to apply for position.Complete and execute HAZWOPER training and work in permit required confined spaces with PPE.Experience/EducationHigh School diploma or GED requiredCalibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing process control instrumentation, such as transmitters, process analyzers, and process gages.Understanding and troubleshooting PLCs.AC up to 480v 3 phase, low voltage DC control logic and wiring.Capable of operating electrical test equipment and meters.Certifications/LicensingMust possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle driver’s license.Personnel who work at remote production facilities must obtain a CDL class A with a Hazmat endorsement within one year of their start date.NJ DEP T-1 License (must be obtained within (3) three years of start date and maintained through re-certifications).Must obtain 40-hour HAZWOPER certification within 3 months of accepting the position.
Certification must be maintained annually.Work EnvironmentWork indoors and outdoors.
