The Role: The Product Marketing Manager will be responsible for product management of either machine vision products (from barcode reading to AI based software) or solutions for specific end markets. This includes strategic market analysis, product line responsibility, and go-to-market support to our Global Sales Teams. Since our customer needs and products include cutting edge hardware and software technology, the Product Marketing Manager will leverage his or her prior technical and/or engineering experience to design, develop, launch, and drive sales for one of the product families. Based in our company headquarters in Natick, MA (outside of Boston), this person will report to one of the Product or Solutions Group leaders. He or she will join a high-performance team that is developing and growing next generation products/solutions that will enable Cognex to continue our leadership of the global industrial machine vision market. Essential Functions: Strategic market analysis:Work with customers, Cognex sales team, and channel partners to understand core and adjacent marketsMonitor the competitive landscape, and provide competitive technical and market analysis to aid the Sales team and to inform product developmentDevelop and implement strategy to address new opportunities, both organically and inorganically Product line responsibilityDesign product specifications, work with R& D Engineering and Operations to develop product, execute product launch, train Cognex Sales team, support Sales and present to strategic customersAct as the subject matter expert in the features and applications of your product/solution portfolioSet pricing and manage profitability margins and forecasting Support the Global Sales Organization to grow market shareDefine the product message and work with Marketing Communications to develop promotional contentDevelop relationships with key customers in all regions of the worldLead the development of sales and training material for sales team and customersWork with the Product Marketing management team to help determine the strategic product roadmap for the company (e.G., long-term strategic plan) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsStrong cross functional skills including work with Engineering, Sales and OperationsGlobal business perspectiveAble and willing to travel 25%, domestically and internationallyStrong customer focus, attention to detail, bias for action and excellent communicatorStrong presentation skills, a winning attitude and strong work ethic Minimum education and work experience required:Working towards a Masters in Engineering Management or MBA preferredBachelors degree in Engineering or related disciplineProduct Management and/or Consulting experience is a plusExposure and/or demonstrated interest in industrial or manufacturing sectorsAdditional Job DescriptionEqual Employment OpportunityCognex is an equal opportunity employer.
