Tooling Engineer will collaborate with Design Engineers, Process Engineers, and Quality Engineers to develop and improve product designs for robust injection molded components.
The Tooling Engineer is responsible for specification and procurement of injection mold tooling required for new product development projects.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Served as internal plastic tooling and manufacturing expert by leveraging a thorough understanding of properties of various mold-making materials and tool component fabrication techniques
Responsible for the analytical simulation/validation of Injection Tool Concepts and final tool designs from tooling suppliers, including Mold Flow, Warp, and Cooling Analysis, etc.
Responsible for the creation and maintenance of APCP Injection Molding Tool Design Standards
Collaboration with CAD Designers and Product Engineers to optimize the design of Plastic Molded Components
Collaborates with Manufacturing Plant Personnel (Molding Manager, Tooling Manager, Quality, etc.) on all activities related to Tooling Procurement, Validation and Set-up
Will institute continuous process improvement measures from initial product design through production ramp of new products
Leads tooling technical meetings and design reviews with tooling suppliers
Supports purchasing activities related to the sourcing of injection molding tools.
Will perform additional responsibilities when required
Requirements & Qualifications
5 years of hands-on experience involving specification, procurement, and qualification of molds for injection molded components
Experience in managing complex development programs with overseas tooling vendors (Asia) is preferred
Experience with Moldflow analysis review and results implementation
Working knowledge of quality improvement, lean manufacturing methods, statistical process controls, and process capability
Proficient with the use of Design for Manufacturing, SPC, DOE and Six Sigma techniques
Maintains confidentiality of proprietary information
Ability to maintain a professional atmosphere in a fast-paced environment with numerous interactions and interruptions
High degree of initiative, self-motivation and ability to motivate others
Not Required but nice to have!
Proficient in the use of CAD (CREO or similar) is preferred
