SUMMARY
Perform duties to repair and test strapping tools to meet manufacturer specifications and prepare data for repair estimate when needed.

Essential Functions:
Work from work order forms, product operation parts and safety manual and instructions:
Pull work order form, enter repair tech information into the computer and check for special customer instructions before planning repair needs.
Diagnose tool operating problem, check on applicable test unit to analyze and determine repair issues.
Disassemble unit, clean components and parts and check for worn, damaged and possibly defective parts.
Scan into the work order parts needed for repair from the bar code sheet for the product you are working on, check the price of repair and if the cost is not over 35% of the price of a new tool then send the parts list to the parts department so the order can be filled.
If the repair is over 50% of the cost of a new tool STOP the repair and proceed with an estimate for final approval from the customer or sales.
Once the repair is determined to be okay for finalization retrieve the parts from the parts department and proceed with final assembly and testing.
At this point any comments that point out irregularities that the customer or sales should see need to be added to the work order under the comment section. **Any highly unusual issues should be reviewed with the Group Leader or Plant Manager.
Tool and final work order packing slip from the parts department should be taken to the shipping area and packaged for shipment.
Other duties as assigned.
All fully trained repair technicians are required to produce enough repairs that will average out to 5 tools and 28 labor units per day by the end of each month.
All repair technicians will be required to use pneumatic test equipment, power wrench, power drill, power grinder, high heat propane torch, electronic Tensile test fixture, tapping drill, computer for diagnostic checks on battery tools and a wide variety of hand tools.
Follow all safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
High school diploma (preferred) or GED .
Experience / Abilities:
2 years of Mechanical / Technical troubleshooting / Assembly background preferred. Applicant must have good troubleshooting skills and have a mechanical aptitude to help in diagnosing and repairing pneumatic, hydraulic and battery operated tooling and machine systems.
Applicant must be willing and eager to learn new items.
Applicant will be working in a team environment.
Good communication skills required.
Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
Computer skills:
Proficiency in software required or preferred
Physical Requirements
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, an individual is regularly required to reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
While performing essential functions, this role occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, high heat parts washer, risk of electric shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed (steel toe shoes, safety glasses, ear plugs, gloves, etc.).
