The person hired for the position of Manufacturing Technology Process Engineer will provide technical leadership and manufacturing support within TPDC.

This position will be supporting development and deploying of new or improved process technology, new product development, cost reduction and quality improvements.

In this position, the person is responsible for driving operational excellence within the areas of support and is expected to initiate and conduct broadly defined technical tasks within the process technology platforms.

They are also responsible for advising, consulting and troubleshooting area processes within the pilot plant and potentially other global manufacturing locations.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• Responsible for improving key performance measures for assigned processes: Cost, Run Rates, Process Yield, and Quality.
• Actively utilize Lean Six Sigma and statistical tools for improving processes and reducing waste.
• Actively participate in Complaint Resolutions and Corrective/Preventative Actions
• Provide technical support to Customer, Technicians and Plant Engineering on daily operational issues.
• Contribute to new product and technology development
• Develop Statistical Process Control Standards as needed
• Work with support teams to provide appropriate staffing to run experiments
• Lead Gates within New Product/New Technology Introduction system
• Work with Plant, Division, and other internal and external resources as needed to accomplish objectives
• Determine requirements for equipment/process and define projects that roll into the annual capital planning process for necessary improvements and upgrades in areas of responsibility
• Provide hands on process troubleshooting and operational support
• Support the Development Center using management of change and pre-start up safety reviews
• Potential to be on-call and off-shift coverage as needed
• Participate in daily Tier meetings

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering (completed and verified prior to start) discipline from an accredited university
• Two (2) years of experience in an engineering, manufacturing, or production environment (private, public, government or military)

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Experience in process engineering within a manufacturing or industrial setting
• Experience with technology transfer, process scale-up and or new product commercialization
• High personal integrity, an energetic & positive attitude and be a self-starter; able to work with minimal supervision 
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and organizational skills to manage different priorities and can bridge laboratory, business, engineering and manufacturing boundaries
• Ability to perform root cause analysis and apply systematic thinking in problem solving
• Demonstrated leadership ability, process control experience, and experience working directly with customers
• Experience within a global manufacturing corporation is preferred

Location: Cottage Grove, MN

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic

Relocation: Is authorized
