Join the brightest and largest team in the business to help continually take Coherent laser solutions into future generations.We are seeking and experienced Manufacturing Technician to work in our Optical Fiber “Over Collapse” Department in East Granby, Connecticut. You will be involved with a variety of responsibilities including:+ Responsible for glassworking on standard production preforms in a cleanroom environment in accordance with operating procedures+ Perform a wide variety of glassworking operations with a Hydrogen/Oxygen torch and glassworking lathes+ Acid etch clean and then prep glass tubes, core rods, and preforms+ Monitor glass jacketing production runs and make adjustments+ Troubleshoot basic process and equipment problems+ Document process parameters, and perform Oracle transactions+ Perform basic torch and lathe maintenance+ Perform in-process Quality Control inspection and testing+ Work closely with Fiber Draw team and assist Technologists and Engineers as needed for developmental work+ Other glass-working duties as necessary for production support+ Cross-train in other areas as neededWorking Conditions40 non-exempt hours per week, 5:30am – 2:00 pm Monday-FridayOvertime when required to meet deadlines is paid at 1-1/2 time with supervisory approvalAbility to move/lift up to 30 pounds while bending and reaching is requiredWork is performed in a Clean Room environment Education and Work Experience:+ 1+ years of experience in a high-tech manufacturing environment, or Associates degree or certifcate in a related engineering or manufacturing program+ Computer proficiency including basic Excel skills required+ Previous glassworking or welding experience strongly desired, training provided as needed+ Fine motor skills and dexterity for manually manipulating glass+ Ability to safely handle liquid and gaseous chemicals+ Must be conscientious and detail-oriented.
