Lumber Yard Worker

Von Tobel Lumber and Hardware is seeking a full-time Lumber Yard Worker for our Michigan City, Indiana location. Our ideal candidate will have previous warehouse/lumber yard experience; however candidates with history of good work ethic and motivated to learn will be considered as well.

Responsibilities:

• Unloading and verifying shipments of products that are delivered from vendor packing lists and/or internal purchase order records
• Build lumber loads for delivery
• Check quality and accuracy of products received
• Perform basic research on product discrepancies
• Receives, examines and processes all returns in a timely and efficient manner
• Maintaining inventory
• Loading delivery trucks
• Assist customers and delivery drivers
• Operates forklift
• Keeps management apprised of any delays or discrepancies
• Keeps lumber yard clean, well organized and safe
• Other duties assigned as necessary

Qualifications:

• 2+ years experience in shipping, receiving or inventory control experience preferred but not required
• Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds and pass physical essential function screening
• Forklift experience preferred but not required
• Familiar with building materials including lumber species a plus
• Previous experience in a lumber yard a plus
• Ability to work independently and as a team
• Strong organizational skills
• Detailed oriented and the ability to work with numbers
• Ability to work outdoors
• Ability to work a flexible schedule
• Must take and pass a drug test and post offer physical assessment
• Must consent to a background check

Pay: $12.00 – $17.00 per hour
