Areas of service include: Patient Services, Cafeteria, Doctor’s Dining Room, and Catering. Exemplifies the Medical Center’s core values in every customer contact.In this position you will* Adhere to Medical Center and departmental policies and procedures regarding job specific duties, safety, accident prevention, sanitation, infection control, and improving organization performance program.* Obtain necessary food supplies and equipment in preparation for meal service, ensures proper temperatures, prepares food, and adheres to established timelines for service. Ensures a smooth meal service.* Perform job with minimal errors, as identified per specific job routine.* Greet all customers appropriately, with a smile, and responds to customer complaints with tact and discretion. Refers customers to Supervisor when appropriate.* Clean and sanitizes equipment and work unit according to departmental procedures and schedules. Assignments may include, but are not limited to: ovens, stoves, fryers, hoods, steam kettles, mixers, buffalo chopper, walls, vents, ceilings, refrigerators, freezers, grease traps, carts, tables, counters, dish machine, floors, pots, pans, and catering equipment.* Operate equipment and uses cleaning agents in accordance to manufacturers’ directions and/or departmental guidelines.* Work in team like manner with other staff members.* Complete appropriate log sheets (i.e. dish machine log) and notifies Supervisor when something is not in compliance.* Remove trash and garbage to disposal area; cleans trash containers. Operates trash compactor and garbage disposal.* Deliver food carts to floors and collects soiled trays.* Report safety hazards to Supervisor immediately and works safely to avoid accidents, whether driving or on the floor.* Assist in training new employees if called upon.* Attend departmental meetings and in service programs as scheduled.Required qualifications for this position include:* Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement.Preferred qualifications for this position include:* Safe Food Handling practices certification.* Six (6) months institutional kitchen experience.About the hospital you will serveProvidence Little Company of Mary Medical Center San Pedro is a 259-bed nonprofit hospital that has served the Harbor and greater South Bay communities since 1925.
