Family Service Worker

Community Services Office, Inc.

This is a Contract position in Hot Springs, AR posted December 9, 2021.

  • Case Management – (75%) Implementation of Program Activities associated with assessing family needs, helping families set and meet goals, and assisting them in moving out of poverty
  • ERSEA- (12.5%) Implementation of program activities associated with Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment, and Attendance
  • Parent & Community Engagement – (12.5%) Implementation of program activities associated with Engaging Families and Community Partners in the program to promote families moving successfully out of poverty.

I. Case Management Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Ensure compliance with Family Goal Setting Activities.
a. Establish and maintain a process of collaborative partnership building with parents to identify family goals, strengths, and areas in which support is needed.
b. Maintain appropriate documentation for each family goal and efforts to achieve both family and agency goals.
c. Provide information and referrals to families in need of services including but not limited to adult education and mental health. Follow up on referrals with the parent. Maintain proper documentation of results in family file.
d. Educate parents in methods of applying for and obtaining community services previously unused, and to be proactive to influence providers of those services and others to better meet their needs.
e. Help families identify opportunities for education and employment training in the community, if needed.
f. Follow up when services are received, and for each participating family, provide documentation which determines the quality of services provided.
g. Assist parents on working with the community and neighborhood groups.
h. Maintain direct data input of program data relating to Case Management into the computerized collection program.
2. Assist Children, Parents, and Families in emergency and/or crisis situations.
3. Contact or attempt to contact parents at least once every month. Document efforts or results in the offsite data management system.
4. Visit assigned classrooms at least once per week to meet with parents.
5. Work in collaboration with other staff to coordinate, plan, and complete staffings and conferences on Head Start children and families as needed.
6. Conduct home visits as necessary.

IV. Parent Engagement Duties and Responsibilities:
a. Assists Partners in the planning of parent education and training programs.
b. Assures all required parent trainings are conducted.
c. Assists Classroom Parents in the formation and functioning of Parent Committees.
d. Assists Parent Committees in the election of representatives to the Policy Council.
e. Assists parent members of the Policy Council in fulfilling their Council roles and assists the Policy Council in its activities.
f. Works with the Directors in preparation for Policy Council Meetings.
g. Implements an annual Parent Interest Survey and Program Evaluation.
h. Uses information from surveys to drive parent trainings.
i. Uses information from evaluations to promote necessary changes.
j. Needs to be able to work some evenings and/or weekends as necessary.
k. Plans and/or Promotes monthly activities to engage parents and other family
members in the program.
V. General Duties:
1. Discuss all Child Abuse reports with the Early Head Start Director as reports are received.
a. Ensure agency procedures are followed in each child abuse report.
b. Work in collaboration with appropriate staff if the situation needs health related attention or observation.
c. Assist in training of Head Start staff and parents to all relevant state and local laws.
3. Assist with ongoing documentation and site accountability including, but not limited to:
a. Responding appropriately (both mentally and physically) to an emergency or crisis situation.
4. Establish effective relationships with children, parents, members of the community and staff of the Early Head Start Child Care Partnership Program.
5. Keep Management informed by:
a. Attending Staff Meetings
b. Completing Ongoing Monitoring Checklists
c. Completing Monthly Reports
6. Protect program integrity and client privacy by keeping any and all program information gained through employment at Community Services Office, Inc. absolutely confidential during and after this employment.
7. Demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning by participating in Community Services Office, Inc. Staff Development training and attending relevant and approved workshops.
8. Contribute to team effort by:
a. Assisting with parent involvement and obtaining “In-Kind” matching funds.
b. Understanding the following the C.S.O. Head Start Policies and Procedures Manual.
c. Assisting with the development and completion of:
9. Community Assessment & Strategic Plan
ii. Parent, Family, & Community Engagement & School Readiness Goals & Plan
iii. PIR & Annual Report
iv. Self-Assessment & Improvement Plan
v. Program Plan & Procedures

10. All other duties as assigned.’
