Reports to:Process Engineering ManagerBasic Functions:Manufacturing Engineer that supports assembly lines and machine centers for boiler and air conditioning manufacturer.
Products of primary interest are Boilers, Furnaces, and Packaged Terminal Air Conditioners (PTAC’s).
Potential to work with other future products.Must be a dedicated team member and effective communicator with the ability to work with a variety of skillsets and personal approaches.
Works closely with others in the production group.
Interfaces and works with team members in Customer Service, IT, Purchasing, Engineering, Quality, Sales and Marketing.Qualifications:5 – 7 years as a successful Manufacturing Engineer working in a fast paced production environment.
A complete understanding of manufacturing processes as it relates to HVAC equipment, CNC, Sheet Metal and/or Foundry Plants preferred.Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering/Technology or Mechanical Engineering/Technology or equivalent related degree.
A Master’s degree in the same or related field is a plus.CAD and /or Solid works skills required.Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)Limited travel (25%)Job Environment:Manufacturing and warehouse environment Principal Accountabilities:Enhance highly detailed manufacturing plant and assembly line layouts and fix Turing using CAD or Solid worksMake plant and assembly recommendations and equipment selections based upon results of Design for Manufacturability and Time StudiesResponsible for development of Manufacturing Work Instructions for each work station on an assembly lineAct as manufacturing liaison with engineering for conceptualization of new or modified productsAbility to work independently and lead cross functional teams in implementing new manufacturing ideas and processesImprove manufacturing flow and cost down practicesLead cross-functional team to achieve increased productivity and cost downsMentor all production personnelInterface with and coordinate the needs of production assembly operators, production supervisors, CNC technicians, sheet metal machine operators, safety manager, quality engineers, inventory manager and product managersOversee key production metrics such as productivity, efficiency, lead time, TAKT time, first pass yield, schedule attainment, Poke Yoke, Labor Variance, Single Piece Flow, an inventory returnsPlans, executes, and completes detailed manufacturing project plans.
Includes analyzing a manufacturing need from conception through implementation and sustainmentAbility to lead DFMA and Value Analysis/Value Engineering events from Manufacturing Engineering PerspectiveAbility to estimated product labor costs and routings through the production cycle.
Estimate capital requirements and sponsor capital requests to managementConfirms accuracy of bills of materials, item masters and all product assembly documentation.
Works within a companywide documentation and change policyPlans product unit test stands for the assembly process that demonstrate all aspects of safety and quality.Acts as a champion for raising the bar on production performance metrics and drives a reduction in warranty costsWorks with commodities and purchasing in the process of selecting suppliers that meet performance, quality, safety and delivery needs.
