Associate Protective Services Worker

Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley

This is a Contract position in Jacksonville, AL posted December 31, 2021.

AgeSpan Formerly Elder Services of the Merrimack Valley/North Shore Position Responsibilities: The Associate Protective Services Worker will work collaboratively with the CIU Team to assist in the implementation of service plan goals as established by lead program staff.

Tasks will include assessing the level of risk, assisting in the investigation of protective services reports, assisting consumers with the meeting of basic urgent needs and advocating for unmet needs.

Essential Functions: (Core duties or tasks that are fundamental and not marginal to the performance of the job) Provision of crisis intervention, advocacy and casework services.

Completion of appropriate paperwork and maintenance of client files, including computer database, as defined by the Protective Service Supervisor and as regulated by the Executive Office of Elder Affairs.

Document mandated reporter correspondence for new reports Review agency data systems for historical records related to new reports Record redaction and data subject letters in accordance with program instructions and regulations.

Assisting in the interviewing of key collaterals for investigation.

Obtaining, scanning and completing document reviews of necessary documents such as: police, medical and financial records.

Assist caseworker in securing public benefits and housing for the elder.

This can include; Social security, food stamps and Mass Health, as well as assisting in the process of preserving current housing.

Assisting elder with meeting basic urgent needs such as grocery shopping, clothes shopping and filling medical prescriptions or needed durable medical equipment.

Transporting of clients when needed.

Take Protective Service reports from mandated and non-mandated callers Document mandated reporter correspondence for new reports Review agency data systems for historical records related to new reports Provide coverage in support of the PS program including consulting with HC staff on high risk consumers and responding to calls on PS clients when caseworkers are in the field Assist Protective Service Caseworkers with the completion of monthly home visits to stable clients and home visits to accompany caseworkers when a second person is needed.

Assist with community education efforts as assigned by Protective Service Supervisor Documentation of completed tasks and visits within APS records.

Assist with Brown Bag groceries deliveries Observe all confidentiality regulations and protect consumer information.

Attend mandatory meetings and trainings Other duties as assigned by CIU Supervisors Qualifications: Bachelors degree required.

Experience working with older adults and/or mental health clients required.

Proven ability to engage difficult and resistant populations preferred.

A valid driver’s license required; must have dependable car with adequate insurance for the state where the car is registered and up to date inspection.

Basic word processing and computer skills necessary.
