Summary:This position supports production and warehouse needs across the facility. The Material Handler is responsible for supplying materials and ingredients to the production lines in a timely manner. This position operates palletizers and robots, performs all scanning and SAP related functions for production and inventory tracking.Essential Functions:* Performs daily safety check of the assigned forklift in accordance with company policy.* Transports pallets of raw materials and supplies with forklift to production staging areas as needed.* Prepares supplies and raw materials for production lines, cuts banding and removes trash and dunnage as required.* Transports finished goods from production lines to warehouse storage or staging area with a forklift.* Scans information into database, prints and applies labels and performs inventory counts as required.* Changes stretch wrap on auto-palletizer as needed, re-stacks product on pallets, cleans trailers, removes broken pallets and empties trash.* Rotates goods in the warehouse and doubles stack pallets of supplies as required.* Performs general housekeeping duties in work area and on the forklift and charges battery on forklift as needed.* At the end of the shift, cleans and secures all equipment and completes all necessary paperwork* Provides on the job training to other employees and resolves problems utilizing knowledge of plant operations.* Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks or dollies to move stock or reorganize storage.* Removes finished goods from robots and palletizers and properly stores them in the warehouse.* Picks orders and loads pallets of finished goods on to trucks with forklift.* Scans information into database, prints and applies labels and performs inventory counts as required.* Receives and unloads materials from trucks, scans into inventory system and places them in appropriate location.* Re-stacks product on pallets, cleans trailers, removes broken pallets and empties trash.* Utilizing shag tractor, moves trailers in and out of loading dock area as assigned by supervisor.* Inspects trailers to ensure jack stands are utilized and wheels are chocked per safety policies and practices.* Communicates safety /quality / operational issues to proper departments or responsible parties* Effectively participates in shift handoffs (oncoming and off-going)* Enters data correctly into SAP for usage of materials and maintenance activities.* Accurately details daily activities in the logbook.* Troubleshoots, debugs, and resolves problems with equipment as needed. If resolution is beyond scope of his/her skill level, seeks assistance from other employees, including Team Leader or Production Leader* Other duties as assigned.* The position is backed up by other Material Handlers.Education and Experience:* High School diploma or equivalent.* Minimum 2 years’ forklift experience.* Related experience in a manufacturing facility, food production preferred.Additional Requirements:* Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)* Self-motivated.
