Shipping Clerk

Responsibilities* Compare identifying information and counts, weigh, or measure items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records* Determine method of shipment. Communicate with transportation company to negotiate shipping costs* Maintain appearance and cleanliness of the work area* Maintain all proper safety requirements including, but not limited to, use of back support belts, proper lifting techniques and operation of equipment* Affix shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons* Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or selects pre-assembled containers* Insert items into containers* Bind containers with tape, metal straps or plastic wrap* Stamp, stencil, or glue identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers* Post weights and shipping charges, and affix postage* Examine outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications* Maintain inventory of shipping materials and supplies* Operate tier lift truck or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work areaQualifications / Education* Ability to operate forklift* Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos and the ability to write simple correspondence* Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients and other employees of the organization* Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s* Must have the ability to use and understand shipping and receiving computer software* Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds* High School education; and six months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experienceSkills* Verbal and written English communication skills; interpersonal skills with the ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain cooperative working relationships* Strong attention to detail* Ability to communicate effectively on a one-on-one basis or in a group settingInsight Investments, LLC is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, status as a Veteran or other protected classification.Division2NDGEAR
