If you are interested in a challenging career aimed at groundbreaking research, Seattle Children’s Research Institute is the place for you.OverviewThe Acharya lab () at Seattle Children’s Research Institute is hiring a scientist to join a rapidly expanding research program on signaling pathways that regulate immune response to viruses.

Research in our group is focused on studying mechanisms that lead to efficient antibody response to viruses and how these get dysregulated during development of autoimmunity.

We also collaborate with the James lab and Rawlings lab at Seattle Children’s to used gene editing technology in B cells to manipulate genes and study changes in antibody responses For this position, we are seeking a highly motivated scientist to work with the group in performing experiments related to flow cytometry, ELISA, western blots and tissue culture experiments, and experiments involving immunization of mice and harvesting target tissues from mice.

Additionally, the applicant will be responsible for data anlalysis, presentation of results and working together with other scientists in the group.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Design experiments to perform flow cytometry, western blot.Design experiments to study activation of signaling proteins in B cellsPerform ELISA on serum samples acquired from mice to study antibody responseAssist with genotyping and management of mouse colonyImmunize mice with different viral antigens Perform experiments on tissues harvested from mice.

Analyse data and present data at group meetings.

Contribute to writing for publication of results; generate figures for papers and grants.

– Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or scientific discipline
