The Research Associate’s primary function is to provide laboratory technical assistance to support the goals and objectives of the laboratory or center.
The individual assists in the design of experiments, development of protocols, manuscript preparation and grant applications, and assists in supervising and coordinating various research projects that fall within the scope of approved protocols.
Responsible for interpretation and reporting of results; maintenance of sample databases, and tracking and requesting payment for all purchased services regarding testing.
Assists in the performance of experiments using a range of techniques including tissue and cell culture, and molecular, and biochemical analysis.
Additional responsibilities include training staff and students.Primary Responsibilities:Conduct scientific research under the supervision of the target investigator.Independent performance of experiments using a range of techniques, including tissue and cell culture; molecular, biochemical and morphologic analyses on animal and human specimens.Data analysis and production of oral and written reports, participation in team meetings at which the work will be discussed and planned.Assist with maintenance and operations in the laboratory in which studies occur.Participation in collaborative projects with which the laboratories or involved.Assist in protocol development and grant applications for internal and external funding.Assist in the preparation of manuscripts for publication and for presentation at scientific meetings.Work well with others in the laboratory so as to assist others in their studies and learn from them about alternative approaches to ones own work.Qualifications:Master’s degree or higher requiredRelevant experience required
