The individual filling this position will carry out biological and analytical chemistry research related to elucidating CO2 fixation by novel microbial enzymes, pathways for iron and sulfur acquisition in methanogens, and metabolic changes due to cellular and organismal stress.
Experimental work includes cell culture, protein expression, purification, and characterization, activity assays, and mass spectrometry-based metabolomics and proteomics.Duties and Responsibilities+ Performing biochemical experimentation+ Data analysis and interpretation+ Ordering materials and supplies+ Participating in the writing and preparation of manuscripts for publication and grant proposalsRequired Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills+ B.S.
or M.S in chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology or related field plus a minimum of one year of research experience+ Experience with one or more of the following: cell culture, protein expression, purification and characterization, bioinformatics.+ Experience with and/or demonstrated ability to learn common word processing, reference management, and data processing softwarePreferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills+ Experience with spectroscopic and chromatographic techniques including UV-vis, HPLC , FPLC , Mass Spectrometry including GCMS , LCMS , and MALDI
