POSITION SUMMARY:The primary responsibility of the Mutuel Clerk is to assist guests with placing wagers on horse racing and sporting events from around the globe.
All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental property policies, practices and procedures.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Write, verify, and make payments on tickets for race and sports wagers in accordance with department policy and procedures and ensure compliance to applicable jurisdictional gaming statues and regulationsMaintain a cash bank for his/her shift, responsible for accepting payment and making correct change when necessaryStock Race & Sports book Writer/Cashier’s stations with adequate supplies; keep all stations neat and cleanMake payments on winning tickets in an accurate and timely manner; verify tickets and payoffsMaintain and reconcile bank for assigned shift, following established cash-handling policies and proceduresExplain wagering rules, including betting lines and odds, and procedures to guestsCreate and enter player tracking cardsEnsure the protection of customer’s rewards and adherence to credit linesNotify management of escalated or prevalent guest issues/concerns and any apparent suspicious activityPerform other job-related duties as requested KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:Able to work in and adapt to a dynamic and frequently changing environmentWorking knowledge of sportsProficient cash-handling and math skillsBasic computer and reservation software skillsAble to effectively communicate in English, in both written and verbal formsAbility to work under pressureAbility to multi-task and work well in a fast paced, team-oriented environmentBasic knowledge of reservation and computer software to include Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint as well as office equipment, i.E.
telephone, copier, fax machineExcellent organizational skills to function effectively under time constraints and within established deadlines, with particular attention to detailExcellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all business contacts MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:High school diploma or equivalentWork varied shifts, to include weekends and holidays PREFERRED:Six (6) months of cash-handling experienceExperience in race and sportsbookExperience in a similar resort environmentBilingual, with English as primary or secondary language
