In general, the core of this position requires a motivated and motivating team builder and organization developer.
In this role, you will be responsible for finding capacity and negotiating rates to move freight for customers.
Duties include gaining and utilizing market knowledge to maximize profit, creating a carrier base, problem solving on behalf of the carriers and customers, negotiating tactics and ensuring adequate capacity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Load Capacity
Contact, negotiate and secure carriers for available/open loads
Maximize each load by negotiating with carriers to ensure proper profit margins
Utilize tools to gain market knowledge and maximize margin
Communicate important market information and activity to rest of team and management
Develop and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective clients
Answer phone calls and requests from drivers, customers and carriers
Be willing and able to make cold calls to generate and develop leads
Field internal and external emails/phone calls regarding loads in transit and provide accurate updates as needed
Bid on spot freight and aid in contract opportunities
Carrier On-boarding
Fill out and digitally house new broker packets
Request certificate holders with our Insurance company if needed
System Training
Access and knowledge on both Asset and Logistics McLeod Transportation Management System modules
