This is a Full-time position in Flowood, MS posted October 31, 2021.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND EXAMPLES OF WORK: This list of tasks may be changed or other tasks may be assigned as necessary.Compiling Data and Performing General Clerical Duties* Processes outgoing mail* Reviews and verifies information in outgoing correspondence to patients and doctors’ offices.* Generates recall letters to patients and places on recall desktop for assistant to review.* Contacts hospitals, outside physician offices, etc., to have missing information faxed.* Verifies complete file contents and matches file contents to patient history in computer.* Pulls charts requested by the assistants and schedulers.* Requests charts from Record Max by 4:00 PM each day.* Reviews all faxes sent to medical records and places in appropriate folder to be indexed.* Downloads dictation from Scriptacom website.Scanning, Indexing and Filing* Accurately sorts and straightens medicals records /charts.* Places copy of request and release authorization in medical chart.* Scans paper charts into system.* Indexes scanned documents to proper location in EMR chart.* Scans records/correspondence received through the mail/fax to be indexed into patients’ charts.Pre-appointment preparation* Reviews clinic/endo schedules to ensure all charts are in EMR.* Pulls, scans and indexes charts into EMR if not already there.* Obtains medical records from outside practices prior to appointments.* Enters medications, vital signs, diagnosis and problems into EMR prior to appointments.Information Release and Dissemination* Obtains a signed authorization/release from patients requesting copies of medical records.* Verifies patient identities.* Notates in charts all copies of medical records released and to whom and when released.* Oversees proper handling of copies of medical and records to insurance carriers and /or attorneys.* Documents all records sent to lawyers and insurance companies.* Mails test results and correspondence to patients and referring physicians and documents in EMR when mailed.* Responds to other medical practices that request medical records.Incumbent performs other job-related tasks as assigned and required; any duties/tasks included in the employee’s performance evaluation are essential to that employee’s position within the job classification.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: NoneMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education and/or Experience:Graduation from a standard four (4) year high school or equivalent (GED) and One (1) year(s) of experience in work related to the above-described examples preferred. RHIT certification is preferred.Computer Skills: Working Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook); exposure to Centricity EMR and PM software or practice management software.Competencies: The following competencies describe additional knowledges, skills, abilities, and attributes that lead to a successful employee in this position. The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENT: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work is performed in a medical office environment around the clinic’s files. Operates keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Requires occasional evening or weekend work.
